This is a very valid point and something I also see a lot of. However I do believe that having an element of fear of failure does give many Entrepreneur's the drive they need to succeed and better themselves and their lives.

Fear is a result of lack of knowledge and not knowing the way forward. So, therefore, courage is gained by being at the forefront of "your" market and not having to play catch up?

I think the saying 'Action diminishes fear' is very appropriate here. However motivation can be towards something like a goal or it can be away from something like a fearful situation. Now I would agree that it is better to have the movement towards something but sometimes it takes a bit of fear to get me going.

Best wishes,

well i think it's an interesting point, but i think people worry about failure too much and i agree if you just keep doing what you do best and give it everything and the best that you can, the results would follow and failure wont even cross your mind. i live life each day as it comes and im going to be starting my own business soon, but all i think about is how big it's gonna be and look forward to the challenge and seeing the results.i've got a lot of confidence so it hasn't even crossed my mind about failure.

I see this all the time from Sales people who are scared of the customers reaction. Unitl I read this, I did not realise what it was. They spend hours even days agonising over the reaction they think they may get from the customer..... You don't know how a customer will react until you talk to them - why worry about something that may never happen. Now I have a better idea of how to deal with it.

I'm reading all the above comments and they all are in agreement with Chris's point. But all sound as if fear is really a long way away from their current experience - apart from Bob Griffiths. I would love to know if this is true. For me I cant say I am free of fear at all. It is with me - but does not stop me. Is THAT courage?
